Bob Kelson has over 30 years experience in the field of intellectual property in non-contentious (“transactional”) and contentious matters relating to patents, designs, trademarks, trade secrets and copyright. While his major area of practice related to trademarks, both in Australasia and elsewhere, he also has had extensive experience in patents and designs including advising, drafting, filing and prosecuting applications, and advising on and conducting oppositions and litigation. His patent experience has included agrochemical formulations, pharmaceutical compositions, plumbing devices and mechanical inventions.
Bob is a Registered Patent and Trademarks Attorney, Australia and New Zealand, and an Australian Legal Practitioner. He holds the degrees of B.Sc(Hon) and LLB, both from the University of Melbourne, and is a Fellow of the Institute of Patent and Trade Mark Attorneys (IPTA), and a member of the International Federation of Intellectual Property Attorneys (FICPI), the Intellectual Property Society of Australia and New Zealand (IPSANZ), the International Trademark Association (INTA), the Law Institute of Victoria (LIV), the Law Council of Australia (LCA), and the American Bar Association (ABA). He has served on a number of Committees of INTA.
As a Registered Patent and Trade Marks Attorney and an Australian Legal Practitioner, Bob is subject to both the Code of Conduct for Trans-Tasman Patent and Trade Marks Attorneys and the Legal Profession Uniform of Law Australian Solicitors Conduct Rules 2015.
